Course Outline

Session 1: I Am My Child’s First Teacher; Our Home, My Child’s First School

• Focus: Understanding that parents are their child's first teachers and the home is their first school.

Session 2: My Child’s Growth and Development

  • Saying: "What begins well, ends well."
  • Focus: Learning about how children grow and develop.

Session 3: Power of Word

  • Saying: "The more that you learn, the more places you will go."
  • Focus: Exploring how talking, reading, and singing help children learn words and language.

Session 4: Healthy Body/Healthy Mind Part 1: Nutrition & Physical Activity

  • Saying: "Better safe than sorry."
  • Focus: Discussing the importance of healthy eating and staying active for children’s growth and development.

Session 5: Healthy Body/Healthy Mind Part 2: Social-Emotional Well-Being

  • Saying: "Each mind is a world unto itself."
  • Focus: Understanding children's feelings and how to support their emotional health.

Session 6: My Child, Media and Technology

  • Saying: "The future belongs to those who prepare for it today."
  • Focus: Learning how to use technology in a positive way to help children learn and grow.
